Coach

Juris began skating at the age of 6 in Riga. At age 13, Juris started his ice dance career. When he turned 14, his parents decided to move him to Moscow so that he could train under 1980 Olympic Champions Natalia Linichuk and Gennadi Karponosov. In 1991 Juris won the Junior Worlds Championship. After the Soviet Union fell apart his coaches moved to the United States and Juris followed them and continued competing in 5 more World Championships and the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway. In 1998 Juris retired from competitive skating and started coaching. In 1999 he joined the Scarboro Figure Skating Club where he met Carol and Jon Lane. Shortly after, Juris started working with the dancers and became a member of IDE. Juris is fully level 3 certified coach and winner of COS competitive coach award.
