NACS was a very fun competition and of course a great experience. This competition was very formal we had to be dressed appropriately basically all the time we were in the rink and team meetings. We even had to get dressed up for a draw.
On the first day in B.C. we had a meeting with all the Canadian team members, at this meeting we had to introduce ourselves and we found out that some of teammates were on a bus that caught on fire. At the end of the meeting we had to collect a moose and a Canadian flag pin, to give to our other competitors. We also had a Free Dance practice which, was the most insane practice we have ever been on. Any element you tried to do the was someone coming at full speed doing a lift or something, but during the practices you have to stand your ground, other than that the practice went very well. We than went to Red Robins with Carol and Vivian (Kharis's Mom). Where we had great dinner with non-stop laughing and to top it off we had a giant piece of cake that was 10 inches tall!!! ( Carol paid for the meal, Thank you Carol)
The second day was a very funny day, it's kind of the day we made an enemy. Anyways we had are Paso event. At the breakfast/draw that morning I drew us to skate 2nd in the 2nd group. During that whole morning we were hesitating to giving are moose to our dance team. When we skated the Paso it felt awesome and from what other people said the pattern actually got bigger each round. We won the Paso but the points were very close, there was like .25 difference between first and second. After the Paso we went back to the hotel, and we decided that it was time to give our moose I had to give mine to the girl, when I gave it to her the ngift wasn't well received she gave me a very vexed look and when we tried to joke about it in the elevator she looked even angrier so we assumed she hated us or me in particular. Then that night we went out to see the movie Step Up which was a very disappointing movie.
One the third day we competed are free dance we were the last people to skate ( save the best for last). The dance felt very smooth and everything felt in place. After the dance they announced that we had won. This was a great experience and gave a huge boost of morale.
It was a great competition and I will have great memories and I hope there will be more like it.
