Jon began his skating career at Queens Ice Club in London, England, the Premier Center for International Ice Dancing. He became a member of the British World team at the age of 15 with his partner Janet Sawbridge. Under the direction of legendary coach Gladys Hogg M.B.E., he competed in the European and World Championships for four years. Jon was part of the famous British squad that achieved a grand Slam at the World Championships in 1968. Placing first, second and third, the three British teams are still the only non-Soviet skaters ever to achieve this. At the Grenoble Olympics, Jon and Janet were awarded a bronze medal for Ice Dancing in the demonstration event, and were instrumental in having Ice dancing accepted as an Olympic Sport. Jon became World Professional Ice Dance Champion with Vivienne Dean following his move to the professional ranks. Jon has taught extensively in Europe and North America, and his students are currently competing regularly at the National and International level. Jon has maintained the most successful adult dance courses in Europe for the past 25 years. Jon is technical consultant to the Competitive Dance program, and one of the world-s foremost experts on compulsory dances.
