  Latest news!

Ice Dance Elite would like to congratulate our former national competitors Laura Stoveld and Tanis Hurst (seen here on a visit to summer school) on passing the exam to become Sectional Level Technical Specialists. The course was held in July 2006, and both girls agreed that having skated under the new judging system definately gave them a good start in preparing for the course.

We all think that Laura and Tanis will make excellent Technical Specialists, and wish them the best of luck with this new adventure!

Ice Dance Elite coach Carol Lane

Ice Dance Elite coach Carol Lane was honored to serve as the Assistant Technical Specialist at the I.S.U. Adult International competition held in June in Oberstdorf, Germany.

This was the first time such an event has been held under the auspices of the figure skating governing body, and it attracted around two hundred skaters from all over the world, including Canada and the U.S. The new judging system was used to determine the results, and it was an interesting and informative experience for all concerned.

Due to her increased coaching commitments, Carol will not be able to continue her Technical Specialist duties this season, but she hopes to come back to it in the future.

July 2005

Ice Dance Elite members rose to the challenge once again at the competitive test day held at the Richmond Training Centre on Friday July 22nd.

Laura and Jeff Stoveld, who began skating together in the spring of 2005, skated a powerful performance full of innovative moves to pass the senior competitive test at their first try.

Olivia Martens, in her first season with Simon Gagnon, skated a charming and

elegant program to "The Merry Widow" and passed her novice test with flying colours!

Congratulations to both teams, you did a great job!

Both teams will be showing their new programs at the Lake Placid Dance Competition, along with other members of I.D.E., from August 2nd-7th. Should be a great event!
