RALPH AND HILL DO IT AGAIN!

Many congratulations to Kharis Ralph and Asher Hill, who became Canadian Novice Ice Dance Champions at the Junior National Championships held in Brampton, Ontario, February 1st-4th 2007. This is the second national title in a row for Kharis and Asher, who were the 2006 Pre-Novice Canadian Champions.

After a strong start in the compulsory dances, which had them 3rd in the Paso Doble, and 2nd in the Blues, they entered the free dance in third place, and as always marks were very tight. But true to

form, Kharis and Asher turned in a mesmerizing performance of their "Rainforest" free dance to clinch the title. This also earned them the Skate Canada "Possibility" Award for the best performance of the championship.

We would also like to congratulate Olivia and Alvin, Nikki and Graham, Kelly and Jordan and Joanna and Mark on their excellent performances at the event. We are so proud of all our teams and what they have accomplished.

Ice Dance Elite is very proud to hold the Junior and Novice Ice Dance Champions of Canada for the first time in our history.

Gold for Crone and Poirier!

Congratulations to Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier, who took the Junior Ice Dance Championship of Canada held in Halifax, N.S. January 15th-21st 2007.

The victory was especially sweet, since the team did almost not get to skate! The Tuesday before Nationals, Paul sustained a bad injury to his left foot while training for junior nationals in singles. He had 8 stitches between his toes, and the bottom of his foot was split open. Vanessa and Paul were unable to train at all for the rest of that

week, and only managed 15 minutes on the Saturday before we left for Halifax on Sunday. But being the troupers that they are, they came shining through, winning the title and becoming Canadian champions for the second time. (They were novice champions two years ago.)

Vanessa and Paul will represent Canada at the Junior World Championship in Oberstdorf, Germany, in February 2007.

Congratulations also to Hilary Clegg and Simon Gagnon on their spirited skate in their first junior championship. All the teams acheived personal best scores at the event.

Ok, first off, a trivia question for all you movie buffs! Which movie does the song, "The Posh Traveling Life" come from?

While you are pondering the answer, I will update you all on my travels this fall with Vanessa and Paul and Andrea and Spencer whilst they were competing in the Junior Grand Prix. I was lucky enough to visit Norway, Chinese Taipei, and the Czech Republic, none of which I had visited before. I also squeezed in a week in Oberstdorf ... Continue...
