Katie and Dima began skating together one day a week in the summer of 2005. In September 2005 they joined the Ice Dance Elite Team and began to learn all the basics of ice dancing and competed at the Preliminary level of the Star Skate program. In 06/07, Katie and Dima skated their first year at the Juvenile Competitive level and had a great time learning their very first Free Dance skated to "That's Amore!". They had a good season and earned a 3rd place at COS Sectionals and 3rd at the

Ontario Trillium Cup. For the 07/08 season, they continued to work hard on improving their skills and had a fun and challenging Free Dance, the “New Fangled Tango”. They qualified for their first Junior National Championships in January 2008 in Ottawa. They placed 4th in the Compulsory Dances and then skated their best Free Dance of the season and received a standing ovation from the audience. They placed 2nd in that portion of the competition and Skate Canada recognized this outstanding achievement with a BMO Possibility Award! Overall they finished 4th! Katie and Dima look forward to competing at the Pre-Novice level in 08/09!

Katie and Dima both turned 11 in the Fall of 2007. In addition to Ice Dancing and having fun with all their Ice Dance Elite team mates, Katie enjoys Freeskating at Scarboro FSC, listening to music, computers and spending time with her friends. Dima also enjoys Freeskating and he likes skateboarding, snowboarding, soccer, music and computer games.
