Tanis Hurst and Ian Fotheringham

Tanis Hurst, 18, and Ian Fotheringham, 22, began skating together in the spring of 2004. Both skaters were without a partner at the time and originally paired up just for fun.

After deciding to compete at the Senior level, they worked hard to prepare for the coming season. Their premiere performance occurred at the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships where they were given positive results, and in turn, hope for a promising season.

The two had created a unique style with one another, combining aspects of modern dance with that of ballroom and ballet. With great energy and flow in their skating, they wowed crowds and received much praise.

At the BMO Skate Canada Canadian Championships in London, Ontario, the team placed an impressive 11th place in the Senior Ice Dance Competition. They both look back on their first year together as a most wonderful experience, one to be carried forth and learned from. Now, they begin preparation for the new season.

Good luck Tanis and Ian!
